soggy inner soles
I bought a pair of these shoes from John Lewis Edinburgh in the Spring. On the first occasion they got wet, when washing my deck the leather inner sole detached from the cardboard base to the shoe. The cardboard then disintegrated so I used them when painting my boat. When returned to the usually reputable John Lewis they stated that they were not sold as "waterproof". I wonder what a boat shoe is if it cannot survive a wetting. These shoes do nothing for the reputation of either Sebago or John Lewis brands. The Sebago brand cannot be relied upon to guarantee a boat shoe. For about £75 I bought a pair of suede moccasins from M&S that are fine after a season. The construction of the latter is better in that the leather sides and the bottom are all one piece and there is no soluble fibre base.
