This shoe, ( as much as the docksider and deck shoes for which seabago are most notorious, )is a perfect version of its genre: i.e., a classic. The original versions of the design - the most refined, minimal, un-adorned, purest, mocassin - from Italy of the fifties - most known perhaps being those by carshoe - is not so fine in terms of its leather and its stitching or, in particular, its last. (The carshoe copies - todds - are also inferior in the three aspects). The leather tanning, and dye, its supple condition is of a superior standard. The stitching, its consistency, accuracy, and the colur and quality of the twine is a similar mark of standard. Finally the last, the proportion and shape of the form of the show is excellent. The dimensions from toe to instep, rise of the sides of the shoe to the instep, heel height, toe width and shape -not round, not square - which all the others mentioned infrequently are - is a mark of fine taste. It has a firmness, a fit and a sort of glove-like sensation when worn which is second to none, and would be the delight of the american indian progenitor of the classic concept of this mocassin who presumably wanted the nearest sensitivity to that of the unclad, naked foot.. I'd like to hear of any (extant) better?! Don't think so.....
